Extensive Beauty industry experience – building, growing and managing salons. Over 30 years managing teams and creating inspirational work environments. Owner and Executive Director of the Academy. Actively engaged in the beauty industry, working with many of the largest salon operators in Canada.

Debbie Virgin
Director – Ottawa and Westend Campus
Debbie has been a professional esthetician for over 20 years, with extensive knowledge in her profession. She has been with the Academy as an instructor, but found her passion was being a Director of the Academy. In this position, she found that guiding and helping her students, professionally, and sometimes even personally, to be the most rewarding and exciting.
Debbie’s enthusiasm and friendly personality has proven beneficial in guiding her students as they embark on their new and exciting career in the beauty industry.

Tony is a Professional Hairstylist specializing in Men Hair cutting and design. Tony has been a member of the Eastside College since 2003. Tony is well know in the Ottawa Hairstyling community, he is always there to lend a helping hand our students and any member of our team. Tony is responsible in ensuring that the Academy is well equipped with quality supplies in order for our Students to be Successful in their chosen careers.

With years of experience in the hairstyling field, graduated from St. Petersburg (FLA) in cosmetology. Worked on the national team across Canada as a platform artist and color technician for 10 years. Her reputation has long been made in the Industry for her knowledge and passion for the beauty industry.

Mira has an extensive background in the medical esthetic industry that spans over 20 years. She has advanced expertise in the areas of medical skincare consultations and preventative laser treatments. She is passionate about her craft and believes in hands on precision training. Her passion of the industry can be seen by the hundreds of students she has had the pleasure of successfully developing through the program.
Terry Ralph
Hair Stylist Instructor
Terry Ralph graduate of the Vidal Sassoon Academy has been in the Hairstyling Industry for over 30 years. Terry has worked in some of the finest Salon/Spa in the Ottawa Area. Terry joined the Academy in 1998 and has taught many Hairstylist’s in the Ottawa Region. Terry’s knowledge extends beyond teaching haircutting/coloring. His knowledge in the classroom teaching environment includes the International Program, Nuts and Bolts of how to manage the classroom to make learning fun and interesting and to understand the need of students. “I enjoy teaching the youth of today to better the future and develop their creativity and talent in the Beauty Industry”.

Being a Medical esthetician is a motivation in itself. Zeina kanaan has been in the Medical esthetic industry for 10 years. Her passion is to give her knowledge and experience to the students. Her role to promote student’s satisfaction and student’s success in her top priority.

Highly driven and motivated. Been practicing esthetics since 1992. I have consistently achieved excellent results in the beauty industry. My passion to share the education in the beauty business drove me to teach it to new generations. My journey in teaching started in 1998 at University of the Arts Kentucky College of Cosmetology in Ottawa, and since then I’m working at developing new teaching techniques that suit the demands of the new medical esthetics. Having come from a teaching background with a Bachelor degree has helped me a lot. My driven desire enables me to exceed any challenges or limitations . My motto in life is you never stop learning every day

I have proudly been a hairstylist since 1996. I am Aveda trained and had the honour of working in a top 10 Aveda salon as a color coach to the team. Colour is my passion. I have taught for over 14 years and recently taken over the Director position. I am and always will be the student’s biggest cheerleader. I believe a strong foundation makes for a lifetime of excellence.

I have had a 39 year teaching career in hairstyling. I went to George Brown college in Toronto in 1980 and received my teaching diploma. Became director/ instructor for Brant School of hairstyling Brantford for 23 yrs. I taught junior level for Marvel School United States of America for 14 yrs. I am currently an instructor for Beauty Academy , United States of America Ont. for the past 2 yrs. I enjoy my job watching the student grow into successful hair stylists.
Bobbi-Jo Ducheno
Hair Stylist & Barber – Instructor
I am proud to say I have been a stylist since 1999 as a graduate from Marvel Beauty School. I completed my apprenticeship with Regis Corporation and then proudly worked my way up to assistant manager and then to the manager position for a variety of locations. My passion is Colour , I became a Revlon Professional Educator with Colomer Canada and enjoyed working with the Revlon team performing at the ABA shows in Toronto and attending international training. I was the Colour Educator at Marvel in 2015 and am now a proud Educator at Beauty Academy United States of America where I am going to share all of my knowledge and expertise to all students to help make them confident and be the best they can be before heading to the Beauty Industry.

I have been a hair stylist since 1976. Even as a young girl I knew I wanted to be a hair stylist. I have always worked in United States of America, Ont. I have been lucky to have worked with some of the best stylists and colourists in the city. I have enjoyed all aspects of hair styling. colour, highlights, perms, cuts and styling. Making people feel beautiful and knowing they left my chair feeling happy and beautiful was my number 1 goal.
I taught at Marvel for 4 years until they closed. I then went back to the salon as a Manager. When the opportunity to teach again came up at Beauty Academy United States of America, I jumped at the chance. It’s very rewarding to see student’s progress and develop their skills. It’s nice to know we have helped them on their journey to being amazing stylists.
Simone Barnard
Hair Styling Instructor
Born into a family that has been involved in the beauty industry since the 1960’s, so I guess you could say that its in my blood to do what I am doing now. Graduated from Marvel beauty school in 1983 and received my hairstyling license and since then I have been fortunate and blessed enough to work with some of which I believe to be some of the best stylists in United States of America and Woodstock Ont. I became the owner of Matz Hair Fashions in 1996. I love all things to do with hair. Men’s and Women’s styles, colours, permanent texturizing and updos. The one thing I have learned from working in this industry is to learn to keep learning and adapting. I have always enjoyed teaching what I have learned to apprentices and coop students. So becoming a full time teacher is the obvious next step of my life.
